SAFETY TIPS
Footwear and clothing: Wear proper footwear with good grip, and dress appropriately for the weather, including wind and cold.
Traffic awareness: Be aware of traffic. Never run ahead of the guide, and always cross streets at marked crossings.
Lighting conditions: Consider darkness or low light. Use headlamps or other lighting when needed.
Surface conditions: Be alert for slippery surfaces, such as ice or wet ground.
Equipment: Use spikes or other traction aids, and carry adequate lighting.
Communication: Inform the guide immediately if you feel unwell, tired, or injured.
Weather: Be prepared for cold, snow, fog, or sudden weather changes.
Route considerations: Be cautious in difficult areas. Expect possible snow, wet feet, or tripping hazards.
Keeping together as a group: Do not run ahead or out of sight.
Pace and fatigue: Maintain a comfortable pace; do not overextend yourself. Communicate any signs of fatigue to the guide as early as possible.
